Dr. Piero Ferrari

  • Research Officer

My research focuses on the physical and chemical properties of small metal clusters, with emphasis on the role the electronic structure plays in those properties. My work combines mass spectrometry and laser spectroscopy experiments with density functional theory calculations. My main current interest is the process by which excited clusters emit radiation as a cooling channel, and how this process is influenced by low-lying electronic excitations.
